BODY OF WORK: SUBTLE GROOVE

This series of collagraph prints explores the subtle groove of the universe through muscular gestures, fragmented impressions, and textural marks. Utilizing art as a mode of inquiry, I create compositions with tiny winnowed seeds, plant dust, an awl, oil-based ink, sandpaper, and a hand-saw. I work to depict a microscopic and macroscopic perspective that highlights the interrelationship between humans and Earth. Touched by the way of plants and seeds, this series is a reflection on all that supports our tenuous existence. Through this work, I seek to describe and hold space for the immense wonderment that surrounds and composes us.

BODY OF WORK: LIFE AFTER FIRE, COSMIC RIFF

This collection of large-scale collagraphs was printed at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California. Some images from this collection were created for Big Basin Redwoods State Park as part of an Artist Residency program following the CZU dry lightning storms that sparked vast wildfires and burned over 80,000 acres of sacred land. They were created to speak to the importance of understanding fire resilient ecologies, to honor Indigenous culture and Peoples, and to tell stories about place.
